MA Counselling and Spirituality, MA Conflict Studies, CCC, Registered Psychotherapist

The beliefs and values we hold, as well as our personalities and experiences, affect how we deal with the world around us. I utilize aspects from various perspectives, including cognitive, mindfulness, narrative, psycho-dynamic and trauma focused therapies. My approach is collaborative, empathetic and grounded in respect.

My areas of specialization include anxiety, trauma, grief, and life transitions. I bring over 25 years of combined experience as a mentor, teacher and counsellor, including an MA in Conflict Studies.

I truly believe our lives are far more than the sum of our experiences.

Counselling provides the opportunity for growth and self-discovery in the context of a safe and therapeutic relationship. I offer a non-judgmental, compassionate environment and will accompany you as you tackle whatever obstacles life has put in front of you.  As every person’s needs are unique, I will work with you to tailor the therapy to the issues that you are struggling with.

I have experience working with with adults coping with end-of-life issues, anxiety, depression, life transitions, workplace and interpersonal issues and grief and loss.

MANDY PAQUETTE

Making the first step in reaching out for support takes strength and courage. Everyone faces different challenges throughout their lifetime and I would be humbled to have the opportunity to help you in your life journey. I work from a trauma informed and person-centered approach, taking into account the individual needs of each of my clients. I incorporate Cognitive-Behavioral theory, narrative approach, Mindfulness and EMDR within my practice. My therapeutic style is best described as collaborative, caring, genuine, compassionate, empathic and built on a foundation of safety and confidentiality. I also offer NeurOptimal training within my practice which is a highly personalized brain training software that prompts the central nervous system to help make the best use of your brain’s neural resources. The NeurOptimal neurofeedback system is a powerful technology that can greatly enhance your well-being and generally help you get the most out of life. Brain training can unlock untapped cognitive potential and help you achieve long-held goals and dreams.

 

My goal in therapy is helping individuals meet their personal goals, as well as help foster safety, stabilization, provide tools for coping, foster resiliency and create a general sense of well-being.

As a psychotherapist, I believe that people are capable of growth and change. I empower clients to access their internal resources and to own all of their parts while practicing self-compassion. Goals are addressed collaboratively by inviting clients to identify and explore their needs. I strive to create an atmosphere that is built on safety, acceptance, and respect. I place great importance on creating a compassionate and caring therapeutic relationship with all my clients. 

Cultural sensitivity is a central part of my approach. My areas of special interest include trauma, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, depression, and anxiety. 

 

Operating from an evidence-based attachment approach, I also incorporate aspects from Internal Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness. Together, we will discover what your needs are and what approach works best for you.
